Goa

They call it the “Vegas of India”, Goa is a wonderful and fun-filled places to visit. It’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in India. It’s specialty?  Beaches !

Goa is located about 10-12 hours if you are going by road. You can take a train or simply go there by a flight but once you reach there, you will have plenty of thing to do. Best time to go to Goa would be during winters because that’s when you will be able to do all the watersports. But that also means that – it would the most crowded place during winters.

I have been to Goa multiple times and this trip was planned for monsoon of 2010.  Going there in monsoon means no watersports (which is kind of disappointing). But it also means that you will have quiet beaches.

There are of course many attractions in Goa like Calangute Beach, Baga beach, the fort, the cathedrals. I got a chance to take some good snaps during this trip. I was also more familiar with my DSLR by this time and got some really great shots ! Check them out below

Mysore, Karnataka

Mysore city is a very popular tourist destination in Karnataka. It is a semi-commercial city (according to me) with a very good blend of tourist attraction and business. It is located about a couple of hours from Bangalore city.

You can reach Mysore in many ways like bus, train or even flight or you can drive if you prefer.I was in Bangalore for some project work for 4-5 days in May 2010 and had a very little time to roam around. So – I decided to take a tour bus from Bangalore to Mysore city. There are many tour buses available in Bangalore that can take you to many locations in Mysore. Depending on what all you want to see you can pick the right tour bus. You may also choose to have a tour car/taxi if you want a little more privacy.

Anyways – for me it was not about privacy so I took a tour bus which starts early morning at about 9am [well yeah … 9am is early morning in India.. : –) ] . These buses have a tour guide as well so they explain you some history and significance of the place.  My itinerary was to go to Mysore Palace, St. Philomena Cathedral & at the end finish the day by visiting the musical fountain show in Vrindawan Gardens.

As with any popular destination in India, you will face a lot of traffic on your way. Same is the case with Mysore as well. If you are not very used to Indian Traffic, it’s about time you get used to it as Mysore Palace & Vrindawan Garden both have a lot of traffic. So if you are interested (I was not) you can do some photography of the traffic as well : – )

OK..so we talked enough about the traffic. Don’t be discouraged by it. The places are really wonderful and I was able to take some great shots. Check them out below -

Stone Arch Bridge, Minneapolis

Stone Arch Bridge Minneapolis Picture

Very little known attraction of Minneapolis, Stone Arch Bridge is a historic bridge near downtown Minneapolis. You can easily reach this bridge from downtown, either by taking a bus or even walking.

It was January 2010, the entire city was covered with snow and I was getting bored at home. I wanted to go somewhere but was not sure where to go. I started searching for a near by attraction in Minneapolis and found this bridge and decided to go there. The only problem was –15F temperature and a pile of snow that I could see even from my house. But I still decided to go there, I put on some extra jackets, gloves and started towards the bridge.

I reached there somewhere about 1pm in the afternoon. The bridge was almost deserted  with not more than 10 people in that area. That’s when I realized that there are many more crazy people like me who are out in that temperature.  Anyways – I started walking on the bridge and taking pictures (as I always do) and got some really great snaps. I think more than the bridge itself, the snow and some other moments made this trip successful and enjoyable (and worth travelling all the way in that cold weather).

Following are some of the pictures that I took during my visit -

Here is some history about the place (not sure if you are interested :- )) )
