Mysore, Karnataka

Mysore city is a very popular tourist destination in Karnataka. It is a semi-commercial city (according to me) with a very good blend of tourist attraction and business. It is located about a couple of hours from Bangalore city.

You can reach Mysore in many ways like bus, train or even flight or you can drive if you prefer.I was in Bangalore for some project work for 4-5 days in May 2010 and had a very little time to roam around. So – I decided to take a tour bus from Bangalore to Mysore city. There are many tour buses available in Bangalore that can take you to many locations in Mysore. Depending on what all you want to see you can pick the right tour bus. You may also choose to have a tour car/taxi if you want a little more privacy.

Anyways – for me it was not about privacy so I took a tour bus which starts early morning at about 9am [well yeah … 9am is early morning in India.. : –) ] . These buses have a tour guide as well so they explain you some history and significance of the place.  My itinerary was to go to Mysore Palace, St. Philomena Cathedral & at the end finish the day by visiting the musical fountain show in Vrindawan Gardens.

As with any popular destination in India, you will face a lot of traffic on your way. Same is the case with Mysore as well. If you are not very used to Indian Traffic, it’s about time you get used to it as Mysore Palace & Vrindawan Garden both have a lot of traffic. So if you are interested (I was not) you can do some photography of the traffic as well : – )

OK..so we talked enough about the traffic. Don’t be discouraged by it. The places are really wonderful and I was able to take some great shots. Check them out below -
